Responsibilities

  • Become the company’s SME on all things relating to Chemicals and Chemical Procurement
  • Direct chemicals COE to maximize company’s supply strategies; lower costs; increase supplier reliability, etc.
  • Create, communicate, and actualize business goals and sourcing strategies and initiatives by engaging both internal and external stakeholders
  • Accountable for acquiring and applying knowledge of related commodity markets, outside benchmarking, and implementing appropriate commodity guidance to establish chemical manufacturing costs
  • Establish relevant models on what various chemicals should cost across all business units
  • Conduct worldwide supplier selection and negotiate supply contracts making sure company receives the best overall value (cost, supply reliability, etc.)
  • Ensure all company business units maintain similar sourcing strategies
  • Accountable for achieving cost savings targets
  • Accountable for all procurement activities including bidders list identification, RFP establishment, bidding events, selection of suppliers, contract negotiation and development, and keeping track of supplier service levels and performance.

Essential Qualifications/Requirements

  • Chemical Engineering or Chemistry Bachelor’s degree
  • Procurement and Supply Chain experience: At least seven years
  • Proven experience in worldwide businesses with multiple plants and/or divisions
  • FDA/cGMP Regulatory Requirements experience relating to manufacturing and process development
  • Demonstrated record of effectively delivering positive results on large and complex projects managed
  • Proven experience analyzing raw material costs and any external elements that affect costs
  • Proven chemical supply base knowledge, including chemical commodity value chain dynamics (custom synthesis, bulk, specialty and fine).
  • Proven knowledge of chemical industry economics and pricing, including LCC and emerging market supply base
  • Proven ability to both create and maintain a successful procurement strategy and process
  • Proven contracting skills
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to multitask and think in a critical manner with a sense of urgency
  • Proven experience working with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization

Desired Qualifications

  • MBA or MS
  • CPM or CPIM
  • Experience working at a company that is regulated by the FDA
  • Hands-on management of supplier relationships
