Our Oil & Gas client is seeking a candidate with a strong Procurement & Supply Chain background to assume the Senior Manager for optimizing Procurement, Materials & Logistics processes in the field so they’re properly aligned with Corporate initiatives and policies. The right candidate will have the required market insight to professionalize the Supply Chain organization in the field to reduce bottlenecks and maximize efficiency in their global operations. While this role is leading these optimization initiative projects, they will be in a high visibility role that will grow into a leadership role within the group or elsewhere within the organization.

Key Responsibilities of Senior Manager Optimization Position

  • Ensure Procurement, Materials, and Logistics (PML) activities within a manufacturing center, country, or chosen location are managed to meet business and customer needs. Establishes supply base and manages procurement, materials and logistics process for optimal business results.  The goal of this project is to align Field and Corporate Supply Chain functions.  Understand internal and external customer’s objectives and goals, and implements strategies to achieve these goals.
  • Implements Strategic Sourcing in conjunction with Category Management group to support country needs, manufacturing production schedules and customer deliveries.  Defines and manages the process for executing purchase orders under agreements negotiated by Category Management.
  • Identifies strategic opportunities for supply chain improvement and works closely with peers, regional, manufacturing and global network.  The goal is to align and professionalize the Supply Chain personnel in the field to reduce audit findings and maximize efficiency in their global operations.  Create uniform policies, processes and procedures to make sure the entire Supply Chain organization is operating under the same set of criteria.
  • Evaluate needs throughout the Supply Chain in order to train and develop workforce and mentor for career and skills development.  Develop suitable local performance measures to demonstrate efficiency of processes and personnel.
  • Implements Import/Export controls.  Provide materials to international affiliates.  Manages inbound and outbound shipments.  Reconcile invoices and goods received.
  • Defines, documents, and manages the processes for delivery of all procurement, materials and logistics activities.  Ensures necessary records for Audit purposes.
  • Implement effective systems and processes to provide value throughout the supply chain and support lean manufacturing initiatives.  Lead continuous improvement efforts for material cost and sourcing activities.
  • Track raw materials trends and plan effectively to protect profitability of operations.
  • Build and develop category strategies and processes to manage suppliers globally and support manufacturing and distribution activities in all regions.
  • Identify and develop a robust supply base to provide materials with competitive cost and quality for all locations and support for geographic expansions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and technical management to provide best-value solutions for raw materials and outsourced products.

Essential Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced and complex Oil & Gas environment.  This person must have the ability to influence Senior Management, as well as train and mentor Supply Chain personnel in the field.  This person must be dynamic and have the ability to relate to all levels of management.  Oil & Gas experience isn’t required, but would be valued due to the unique nature of the industry.
  • Bring focus, purpose and agility to motivate others to adapt quickly to changing business needs.  Provide leadership throughout the entirety of the project and be available whenever needed to provide guidance and direction during the optimization phase of the project.
  • Proven ability to raise the performance bar – create, promote and sustain a high performance culture that reinforces accountability.
  • Takes the initiative to look for and take advantage of opportunities and willing to take independent actions and calculated risks.
  • International experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong team player; proactively able to step in to support other team members as needed and share knowledge to allow cross training of all functions, builds collaborative relationships.
  • Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.
  • Track record of sourcing success for new products and development of new suppliers.
  • Successful implementation of lean supply chain concepts.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the broader organization, and how their role and/or function fit into the strategic plan and overall direction of the company.
  • Creates alignment so everyone within organization understands the strategy and how their contribution furthers organizational success.
  • Decisions reinforce the business plan and strategy by building a disciplined, consistent approach with measurements of success.
  • Demonstrated ability to pull together management reporting, interpret data and provide meaningful information to both a financial and non-financial audience.
  • Self-motivated, capable of seeking quality solutions and continuously focusing on process improvements, while keeping the needs of the business in the forefront.

Desired Qualifications

  • BS/BA Degree in Engineering or other technical degree is highly preferred, with a graduate degree in Business Administration and/or Certification as a Supply Chain Professional preferred.   Supply Chain Management, Finance and Business degrees will also be considered with at least 10+ years of experience in roles with progressive growth in a multinational organization.
