Highlights of the Category Manager Position

The client has a need to bring in sourcing category manager to help manage indirect functional committees to ensure effective & collaborative sourcing decisions. They will join a growing procurement organization that includes analyzing markets and identifying trends. This includes leading and coordinating supplier negotiations.

The individuals who come into the manager roles will help build the procurement organization with the chance to lead. The client plans to move strong performers into leadership roles.

Key Responsibilities of Category Manager Position

  • Identify opportunities and negotiate programs to achieve the lowest TCO across category
  • Develop and execute category strategies related to OS&E and FF&E
  • Lead cross functional committees to ensure effective & collaborative sourcing decisions
  • Analyze markets and Identify/monitor trends
  • Lead supplier negotiations
  • Liaise with business units to gather and standardize requirements/fulfill procurement needs
  • Develop trusting relationships with VR operations/businesses & suppliers
  • Manage Contracts

Essential Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Looking for a generalist (indirect commodities)
  • Tackling multiple projects
  • Good communication/selling skills – Going to have to present to stakeholders
  • Process driven – Classically trained in a strategic sourcing methodology
  • Looking for someone with drive/passion/energy
  • 7 + years of experience
