Our client is seeking a dynamic candidate with procurement experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have a chance to build procurement strategies, processes and policies. The successful candidate will also be responsible providing leadership and development of a Purchasing Manager and a Purchasing Assistant.

Key Responsibilities of Director of Procurement Position

  • Build the procurement organization as well develop the functional aspects of procurement.
  • Provide leadership to the procurement organization and support staff.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management. To facilitate autonomously of mutual goals.
  • Ability to understand commodity requirements and communicate requirements to suppliers.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (up to 30%).

Essential Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Dynamic individual that is an outside the box thinker, self starter that requires little supervision/management.
  • Roll up your sleeves, total cost of ownership mentality, ability to solve problems independently.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Possess solid oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with suppliers and all levels of staff throughout the organization.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization.

Desired Qualifications

  • International purchasing experience is a plus in order to develop and evaluate foreign sources.
