The company is seeking a candidate with a Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment with strategic responsibility for procurement/planning of mechanical components.  This individual will be responsible for $10 million in spend.  There are many growth opportunities within this global organization.

Key Responsibilities of the Commodity Manager Position

  • Strong presentation skills – must be comfortable and competent at presenting technical information to senior management and defending position
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management. To facilitate accomplishment of mutual goals.
  • International purchasing experience desired. To develop and evaluate foreign sources.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate with suppliers in other countries
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret engineering drawings, quality systems requirements and customer specifications
  • Ability to understand component requirements and communicate requirements to suppliers

Essential Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization
  • Possess sufficient oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with suppliers and all levels of staff throughout the organization
  • Ability to solve problems independently
  • Experience with multiple facets of castings (die casting, sand casting, machining)
  • Solid personal computer skills with strong capability with Microsoft Office products; Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (up to 30%)

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment with a business or technical degree (ME, IE, EE, BA, BS), CPM preferred
  • Experience with Ariba Sourcing Professional or equivalent preferred
  • Oracle ERP experience preferred
