Highlights of the Procurement Manager Position

This position has responsibility for the purchase of services and other spend segments to be determined by identifying commodities and services suitable for Corporate Contracts. Develop, negotiate and administer contracts that take full advantage of the total corporate volume. This is to support the large $1.5b expansion Tennessee. It will provide functional leadership in procurement practices and facilitate the continuous improvement of the partnership between its internal customers and Suppliers to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership.

Key Responsibilities of Procurement Manager Position

  • Develop and implement negotiation strategies that satisfy the objectives of all business units/teams and production.  Research and understand the market conditions, advances in technology, supplier performance and economic forecasts.  Keep Business informed regarding economic conditions, market conditions, lead times and shifts in pricing. Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner while protecting the long-term interests of the Company
  • Define key suppliers, create bid packages, negotiate contracts (including terms and conditions).
  • Flexibility to expand procurement scope after project phase
  • Has the ability to work on an international team along with the willingness to travel nationally and internationally for extended amounts of time.
  • Maintains high self initiative and motivation.
  • Acts as point of contact and knowledge for strategic issues related to the category
  • Conducts or supports team in developing spend profile, supplier portfolio, supply market analysis in support of strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Supports supplier negotiation framework including negotiation preparation information and tools, presentation materials and analysis, and participates in the negotiations process with suppliers
  • Investigates and evaluates new sources of supply.  Interviews supplier sales representatives and continually endeavors to keep abreast of developments that influence procurement procedures and practices.
  • Coordinates, conducts, and participates in meetings and discussions between suppliers and/or related personnel concerning subjects other than normal price, delivery or quality negotiations (i.e. value analysis, new methods, techniques, processes, etc.).
  • Conducts on-site reviews of supplier facilities and products/process capabilities to assess current and potential supplier qualifications.
  • Longer Term – Develop and implement cost reduction strategies in support of annual cost reduction targets.
  • Develop and manage strategic supplier sourcing and selection including global sourcing to achieve performance, quality, EH&S, price and materials strategies.
  • Direct, negotiate and manage service contracts.
  • Develop and implement Procurement department policies and procedures.  Focus on Best Practices.

Essential Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Experience in Construction Service procurement for major capital projects.
  • Procurement experience in major construction service contracts, bids processes, and support of engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience with contract and contract law
  • Negotiations; ability to read, understand, and write legally binding service contracts.
  • Written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of management, both inside and outside the Company including excellent persuasive/presentation skills; global and international awareness.
  • Strong  analytical, financial and research capabilities; proficiency with SAP & Microsoft Office applications; and the ability to react to change.
  • Bachelors Degree
