Highlights of the PSCM Category Specialist Position

The Category Sourcing Specialist provides guidance and assistance in the design and delivery of sourcing strategies and plans. This role is also responsible for executing contracts on relevant commodities as assigned. Candidates with specific commodity expertise will be relied upon for those specific categories. There will be times when the Category Sourcing Specialist is tasked with commodities outside his/her specific expertise.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to help transform our client’s PSCM Operations.

Key Responsibilities of PSCM Category Specialist Position

  • Market Sector Management
    • Continuously investigates larger industry and supply markets for alternative options to increase benefit to, or reduce risk for, our client
    • Leads and supports multi-site purchasing projects
    • Maintains supplier relationships on a day-to-day basis
  • Influencing
    • Collaborates with all related stakeholders to design and maintain sourcing strategy alignment
  • Sourcing
    • Support numerous sites
    • Aligned with set requirements, lead and deliver sourcing projects
    • Utilize best in class tools and methods to ensure effective cost management
    • Define and execute sourcing strategies that effectively lessen outside supply risk caused by logistics issues, criticality of commodity, or alternative supply sources
  • Contract Management
    • Taking into account all commercial and legal requirements, work with stakeholders to design and implement unambiguous supply contracts
    • Prior to contract execution, ensures all stakeholders are “okay with” the risks and various mechanics of new contracts
    • Leads and supports ongoing contract management – both locally and regionally

Essential Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Numerous years experience in PSCM
  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain or a relevant scientific, business or engineering focus
  • Prior experience collaborating with numerous organizations, locations to deliver agreed-upon goals and results
  • Strong experience in preparation of RFPs and RFIs
  • Strong experience in cost modeling, contract type selection and supply market analysis
  • Proven contract management and execution skills
  • Proven eSourcing, influencing and negotiation skills

Desired Qualifications

  • ISM certification complete or in progress
  • Prior business experience in Oil and Gas or a related industry
  • Systems software experience, including SAP, MS Business Objects, and Ariba
  • Basic skills in materials management processes, management of supplier performance, and development and application of market sector strategies
  • Moderate skills in supply chain risk management and demand management techniques and tools
