Key Responsibilities of Senior Buyer Position
- Studies trends in the market, conducts vendor interviews and recommends supply sources.
- Analyzes received quotations, recommends and/or selects suppliers, and schedules deliveries.
- Prepares purchase orders and ensures timely delivery by following up on all orders.
- Obtains delivery certifications and performs checks against initial orders.
- Cross-checks and approves payment invoices for placed orders.
- Creates and maintains necessary files and records for efficient operation.
- Manages buying to reduce backorders and ensure current needs are filled.
- Forecasts purchasing amounts based on history and information from engineering and sales.
- Prepares reports for management.
- Analyzes risk factors and makes appropriate purchasing decisions.
- Consults with other departments on purchase decisions and future needs.
- Oversees preparation of quotes and purchase orders.
- Other duties as necessary and requested.
Essential Qualifications and/or Requirements
- At least 5 years in a similar role or department
- BS Degree or equivalent experience
- Good communication and organization skills
- Math ability or aptitude
- Computer skills
