Highlights of Global Purchasing Manager Position

The incumbent will join a strong supply chain organization with a strategic focus. This key role will enjoy high visibility in a global group. The Global Purchasing Manager is charged with the direct purchasing activities (globally) for precious metals. The selected candidate will lead and direct the strategic sourcing process globally and will have direct responsibility for roughly $150 Million in annual global spend. The Global Purchasing Manager must understand and anticipate customer needs and globally source appropriate materials. Due to the current environment for precious metals, cost control, supply security, and strategic management are crucial concerns for this position. Finally, the Global Purchasing Manager is expected to provide innovative concepts to procurement strategies.

Key Responsibilities of Global Purchasing Manager Position

  • Create and maintain a culture of safety with the ultimate goal of no on-the-job injuries
  • Establish and promote root sourcing strategies for precious metal commodities
  • Reduce TCO of precious metal commodity purchases
  • Collect/maintain market and industry intelligence while performing due diligence in support of supplier negotiations and sourcing efforts
  • Confer with senior management to ensure strategic calibration
  • Manage core vendor reviews
  • Negotiate core supplier arrangements for the most economical and dependable precious metal supply; confirm contractual compliance
  • Keep other relevant functional groups apprised of sourcing performance and procedure
  • Meet or exceed expectations through proper direction and execution; Assist the progression the strategic and annual operations plans
  • Construct and present in-house papers

Essential Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • 10 – 15 years global manufacturing environment experience
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Thorough knowledge in sourcing raw materials, best practices and procurement processes
  • Ability to travel 25%+
  • Strategic thinker
  • Project management skills allowing candidate to multi-task in an ever-changing environment
  • Proven competency in analyzing and negotiating supplier contracts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with personnel within and outside of Client company, across various cultures and organizational levels
  • Positive, customer focused attitude
  • MS Office skills – primarily Excel and PowerPoint

Desired Qualifications

  • Prefer technical discipline degree major such as mining, physical sciences, or engineering
  • Advanced degree and/or Supply Chain/Procurement certification is preferred
  • Prefer experience in mining, metals, and/or chemical industries
  • Prefer background and strong skills in sourcing precious metals
