Highlights of General Manager and Vice President Position

Manage a truck and intermodal freight brokerage providing LTL and TL transportation within and between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. This is a support operation for a related company with large client base and infrastructure resources. New business development is not a primary duty.

Office locations: Miami, Los Angeles, Buffalo or Toronto

Key Responsibilities for General Manager and Vice President Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Conduct profitable freight brokerage service business in compliance with U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (Property Broker & Motor Carrier) and other applicable government agencies.

  • Source reliable carriers and agents to deliver sustainable services to our clients.
  • Negotiate industry competitive agreements and contracts with carriers.
  • Build a loyal carrier base.
  • Provide the best value to our clients.
  • Identify opportunities for rate reduction/client savings.
  • Fast response to RFQs (Requests for Quotations) from related company.
  • Prepare SPs (Service Proposals) accurately, professionally and promptly.
  • Establish and enforce Business Rules for all carriers and business partners.
  • lmplement K.P.l.s to measure performance and behavior against our Business Rules.
  • Establish and monitor matrixes to measure performance.

Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Minimum of five years experience in the freight brokerage business.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Logistics and Management experience.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Purchasing experience in logistics industry.
  • Able to analyze and interpret government tariff schedules, regulations, general business
  • periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • English written and verbal fluency.
  • Proficient analytical, communication, presentation and business writing skills
  • Understanding of business finance and accounting
  • Ability to analyze profitability on accounts to ensure optimum profitability
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Proficient in MS Word@, Excel@, Power Point@, Email, and Internet meetings (for
  • prospective client presentations).
