Highlights of Director of Global Transportation Procurement Position

An experienced international transportation manager to source carriers, negotiate freight contracts and negotiate NVOCC service arrangements, and arrange logistics at origin and/or destination.

Key Requirements for Director of Global Transportation Procurement Position

Concentration: FCL Ocean imports and exports between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Asia, Europe and S. America.

Primary: Conduct profitable international transportation service business in compliance with U.S. F.M.C. regulations.

Additional:

  • Source reliable carriers and agents to deliver sustainable services to our clients.
  • Source all modes of transport, including inland origin, domestic trans-border and international air.
  • Negotiate industry competitive contracts with carriers.
  • Negotiate transportation service agreements with clients.
  • Reduce the complexity of international traffic by building an effective group of agents carriers, freight forwarders, consolidators and inland carriers.
  • Establish Business Rules for all vendors/agents/business partners and manage performance and behavior against the Business Rules.
  • Establish and monitor matrixes to measure performance and reduce costs and cycle times.
  • Maintain tariff filings in accordance with F.M.C. regulations.

Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Minimum of five years in global transportation including F.M.C. OTI experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Logistics and Management experience.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Purchasing experience in logistics industry.
  • Able to analyze and interpret government tariff schedules, regulations, general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • English written and verbal fluency, Spanish, French, German or Mandarin a plus.
  • Proficient analytical, communication, presentation and business writing skills.
  • Understanding of business finance and accounting.
  • Working knowledge of U.S., Canada & Mexico Customs regulations and managing flow of information and documentation.
  • Ability to analyze profitability on accounts to ensure optimum profitability.
  • Able to travel (minimal not more than 5 days per quarter) as needed.
  • Proficient in MS Word@, Excel@, Power Point@, Email, and Internet meetings (for inter-office training and prospective client presentations).
  • Visit existing clients and expand business relationships.
  • Prepare and respond to RFQ packages and quote proposals between the company, its clients and suppliers.
  • Follow up on all quotes with clients and/or business partners.
