This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to join a world class organization on a global level.  This position is responsible for global commodity sourcing strategy development and execution with a strong focus on material cost optimization.  The incumbent will join a dynamic team that is part of an organization with a strong strategic sourcing focus.  This position will lead and develop the metals aspect of the global team, responsible for the global sourcing strategy for mechanical parts – castings, forgings, shafts, fasteners.

Key Responsibilities of Global Commodity Manager of Metals Position

  • Develop and manage global sourcing strategy for mechanical parts (castings, forgings, shafts, fasteners) –drive material cost optimization initiatives through design, competitive leverage, insourcing/outsourcing, process improvements, low cost country potential.
  • Build the organization’s competitive position through continuous improvement in cost, supplier value, and quality.
  • Be the primary relationship owner with key suppliers, actively manage all aspects of the supplier relationship.
  • Initiate supplier selection that leads to sourcing decisions with lowest total landed cost, required quality levels with minimum level of risk.
  • Initiate negotiation plans and conduct negotiations in line with agreed upon directions.
  • Enlist supplier involvement in developing joint process improvements/solutions to reduce total material cost.
  • Conduct supplier workshops to benchmark current material costs and provide creative sourcing solutions.
  • Actively seek and introduce new supplier technology and advancement in materials, processes, equipment, etc. which will reduce the overall cost and help build competitive advantage for theorganization.
  • Develop, negotiate, and implement supply agreements based on continuous improvements in all areas of the business.
  • Actively support new product development teams, technical commodity reviews.
  • Interact with Engineering to track new initiatives, programs and new technology.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance or other analytical discipline is preferred.
  • Commodity management, sourcing experience required (5-8 years minimum).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously required.
  • Demonstrated track record of cost reduction is required.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Negotiation skills, cost modeling experience is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
