Our client is a global and industry leader in a key process enabling technology essential to high technology.  Nearly every late generation consumer electronic device contains a chip manufactured using this technology.  The incumbent will join a strong sourcing organization that hopes to increase it’s success by further development of the strategic sourcing organization.  This will include establishing new supply chain tools, policies, processes, systems and procedures to achieve world-class performance for the organization.  The position will have the freedom to implement changes and also maintain corporate exposure and influence of management.

Other key responsibilities will be: develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive; recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing; work cross-functionally with executives to achieve critical business objectives; work with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability; interact closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.

Key Responsibilities of Senior Manager Supply Chain Position

  • Responsible for providing commercial expertise in the evaluation of sourcing options and potential suppliers to reveal best design path, and performance and cost from future subsystem purchases.
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers.
  • Participates in maximizing the procurement teams’ changes, part parameters; quote table maintenance, supplier database information, error report analysis, and part number/supplier code information.
  • Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g. materials, components, equipment and services).
  • Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
  • Coordinates with Finance/Accounting on matters involving inventory carrying costs, invoicing, payments, and financial cost models.  Prepares and submits input for planning of departmental budgets.
  • Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
  • May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing
  • Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
  • Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Executives to achieve critical business objectives.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills in leading SCM teams to deliver outstanding business results, implement new programs and initiatives, and achieve increasing levels of performance.
  • Establishes new supply chain tools, policies, processes, systems and procedures to achieve world-class performance.
  • Maintain a service-oriented composure, yet be assertive and persuasive.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and direct the work of subordinate staff engaged in various professional, technical and clerical function of materials management.

Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • B.S. Degree required.
  • High Technology experience important but one from a strategic sourcing process outside of the industry will be seriously considered.
  • Global experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience in a purchasing role with a maximum of 15 years.
  • Must communicate effectively.
  • Influencing skills to develop stakeholder buy-in.
  • Experience from a large organization a plus.
  • Ability to help build a strategy and process.
