This position is responsible for managing a group of people who are accountable for commodities and spend for a particular region or SBU, some of which may be global in nature. Managed Spend <$100MM. Specific requirements include managing import/export compliance, project transportation planning, expediting process and international buying support. Leads team of procurement professionals who are responsible for strategically leading commodity sourcing of complex commodities.

Key Responsibilities of Senior Procurement Manager of Transportation and Expediting Position
- Leads team of procurement professionals who have accountability for a number of commodities and spend for a particular region or SBU, some of which may be global in nature. Team is accountable to operate cross functionally and to understand and apply the strategic sourcing process within region/business in the development of strategies for these commodities, including the collection of data from regions/SBU’s globally. Works with the SBU/Region to identify new value creation opportunities. Team will know supply base as it applies to their respective commodities, including benchmarking those that are providing similar products/services in other regions/SBU’s. Has a working knowledge of the markets and suppliers for all commodities for which his/her team is responsible including variable cost, supplier market share, purchase share. Along with team, conduct supplier workshops to secure competitive knowledge and latest technology as appropriate. Works with team to prepare supplier and contract strategies for major commodities.
- Reviews contracts for team members and his/her self, and negotiates up to legal review all commercial terms and conditions for supplier agreements based upon contract templates. Uses measurement tools to manage all contracts for which his/her team is responsible including contract funding and expiration. Insure all transactions are performed to GPMM/PX guidelines.
- Uses total cost of ownership to achieve cost reduction, cycle time reduction, improved service, increased reliability and productivity improvements. Achieves Operating Profit Impact for the assigned region/SBU for the managed commodities. Leverages all CAPEX and expense purchases within the region/SBU to extract maximum value from the supplier. Leads Strategy Implementation within Region/SBU.
- Utilizes Supplier Management program to manage supplier relationships. Manages the use of supplier scorecards to manage teams suppliers. Works with the region/SBU to understand forecasted demand and annual budgets.
- Demonstrates high level of client service and response standards. Understands team performance vs industry standards and reports to management and clients. Understands and applies all GPMM work processes as they apply to his/her team. Measures and reports results on a timely basis to management and clients. Especially total spend, key contracts and supplier progress, and OPI results.
Responsible for performance management process including goal setting, rating relative performance and recommending appropriate personnel actions. Coaches and develops direct reports. Identifies people needs and skill set requirements, sources quality candidates and provides input into hiring decisions. Optimizes resources within budget constraints.
Qualifications and/or Requirements
- A Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering is required. An MBA is desirable.
- Two to three years of purchasing experience require
- Two to three years of extensive customer interface or business management required.
- Two to three years of project management experience desirable.
- Two to three years of operations experience or close coordination with production plants desirable.
- Two to three years of transportation or logistics management experience required.
