Highlights of Director of Supply Chain Position

This position will be responsible for designing and implementing a “world class” supply chain strategy.  Areas of responsibility will include procurement, logistics, and inventory management.  In addition, they will work closely with marketing and production to influence the S&OP process.

Key Responsibilities of Director of Supply Chain Position

  • Develop & implement a global supply chain strategy
    • Map supply chain and gain approval of plan to reduce cost, improve productivity, and reduce errors.  Plan should include but not be limited to recommendations that:
      • improve inventory turns
      • reduce cycle times
      • evaluate purchasing practices
      • facilitate order entry
      • improve forecasting process and accuracy
      • put into place an efficient process for satisfactory handling of customer inquiries
  • Recommend and gain approval of key metrics which define a world class operation and which will be tracked and reported to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Influence company strategy from a supply chain perspective
  • Actively participate in selection of ERP software solution
  • Special projects assigned by the President

Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Senior manager with demonstrated business and supply chain track record, as evidenced by a minimum of seven years procurement or supply chain experience and a minimum of five years business operations experience
  • Ability to provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction from a supply chain perspective
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in management and leadership activities including staffing, performance management, and employee and executive level communications
  • Superior change management skills
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to structure, analyze, and communicate large volumes of complicated data.
  • Detail and process orientation coupled with a bias toward action
  • Strong negotiation skills and expertise in pricing issues and supplier contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related quantitative field.  MBA strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. (Access a plus)
  • Previous consulting experience is a plus
