Key Responsibilities of Buyer Position

  • Manages day-to-day interaction between vendors and Client to coordinate purchases and resolve outstanding issues. Responsible for evaluating and negotiating pricing, delivery, quality, and service for supplies, equipment, and services from vendors.  Utilizing metrics, creates detailed reports to determine supplier and department performance. This position significantly impacts costs and improves efficiencies in the procure-to-pay life cycle.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of procured products and services.
  • Monitor the requisition approval process and conduct purchase order transactions.
  • Perform market analysis to identify industry trends related to procured products and services.
  • Conduct bid/quote comparison analysis to project/communicate estimated costs and quantifiable savings.
  • Evaluate supplier and departmental performance utilizing procurement metrics.
  • Continually seek and implement cost reduction initiatives.
  • Perform vendor research to gather information related to vendors, contracts, equipment and supplies.
  • Identify, develop, and manage relationships with preferred suppliers.
  • Actively seek interdepartmental relationships within the Firm to help market the procurement function.
  • Support internal customers with procurement expertise in technology and other administrative categories.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly activity reports relating to the overall performance of procurement and the contribution to Firm’ profitability.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned (i.e. spend analysis, budget forecast for large purchase orders, etc.)

Qualifications and/or Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.
  • One to three years work experience in a professional organization (prior procurement experience is preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • A high degree of integrity and commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Effective organizational skills in a multitasked environment.
  • Ability to use computer database to research, maintain, and update records and files.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with lawyers, staff, managers, suppliers and the public.
  • Familiarity with e-Procurement tools is a plus.
