Key Responsibilities of Manager of Indirect Sourcing Position
- Assist the Director to drive indirect strategies, methodologies and technologies throughout our Client’s organization.
- Serve as the “go-to” position for the Indirect Sourcing Organization; independent of the commodity.
- Working closely with the Director, participate in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection. Will investigate and recommend awarding of business, including providing detailed rationale.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, involving the Director in complex and/or high-risk negotiations.
- Initiate and carry out on-boarding and ongoing training of suppliers in accordance with our Client’s policies and procedures.
- Educate all stakeholders on parameters/conditions of supplier agreements.
- Maintain positive relationships and resolve issues with suppliers when needed.
- Remain well versed in industry best practices and recommend new approaches to management.
- Responsible for over $700 million in overall indirect spend with more than 2000 suppliers. Work closely with the Director to realize cost savings year over year.
- Responsible for implementation of the PCard with appropriate commodities and the resulting KPI reporting.
- Accountable for completion of all product development activities to ensure on-time delivery of all products.
- Develop and implement supplier management tools and methods inside and outside of assigned commodity.
- Apply eSourcing tools to maintain each product’s cost integrity throughout the entire product life cycle by investigating and implementing new material and process usage that is most cost effective.
- Resolve cost and technical challenges to ensure approval and delivery of products.
- Resolve non-conformance/quality issues with suppliers.
- Manage product category returns and implement strategies to reduce returns due to product reliability and quality.
- As appropriate, partner with the Director to negotiate VMI/JIT strategies.
- Perform outside benchmarking to ensure best practices within our Client’s indirect sourcing strategies.
Qualifications and/or Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree; MBA is preferred. Equivalent work experience in a closely related field will be considered.
- Must have at least five (5) years experience in indirect procurement at a fast-paced progressive organization.
- Experience in indirect procurement for Logistics, Travel, PCard, and Sales & Events is desired.
- Good understanding of general business challenges and limitations.
- Exceptional negotiating, creative problem solving, team and relationship building skills a must.
- Must be a self-starter, results oriented team player with an organized and professional demeanor.
- Must have excellent computer skills including programs such as MS Excel, MS Word, Lotus Notes. A strong knowledge of eSourcing tools is critical to this position.
- Must be willing to travel domestically, roughly four (4) times per year.
