  • The title of the role is Director of Global Materials Management and is based in the Midwest. This is a newly created role that is being tasked with transforming their Materials and Inventory Control processes.

Company Information

  • The firm is a subsidiary of a larger Business Group that is worth roughly $3 billion. This Business Unit is worth roughly $300 million and offers opportunities for advancement as they continue to grow and expand in their market.  This particular company works with a lot of finished goods that are re-packaged and sold under their brand names. 

Responsibilities

  • They’re looking for a change agent, someone who can transform an organization and develop a team. This person will need to be a builder, someone who can implement and shape processes as the company grows over time.  They will have the autonomy to put their imprint on the processes and the team.  They lack the leadership to make this transformation happen which is why we’ve been retained to identify talent for the role.

 

Essential Qualifications/Requirements

  • This person needs to be strategic in focus and understand lean principles, kanban, and other modern replenishment philosophies. They need to know the latest in supply chain techniques and inventory strategies.  They have six DCs in total, four domestic and two international.  This position will have two managers and other support staff reporting to it, but again will have the opportunity to shape and mold the staff accordingly.
  • While this position is focused exclusively on Inventory, the role will work closely with Logistics. There is travel of up to 33% due to the international nature of the role.  Most of these goods are sourced from the Asian markets so knowledge of that part of the world is highly valued.  
  • This is a high visibility role due to the expansive nature of the Business Group which has numerous locations around the globe. This role could progress within this Business Unit or be considered for opportunities in other divisions.

He has managed consulting projects for several Fortune 500 clients on three continents, including: Raytheon, IBM, Union Bank of California, H.J. Heinz, ConAgra, Eaton, Nestle, and Lucent Technologies. Mr. Flannery holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of Northern Iowa and a Masters of Business Administration in Strategy from Indiana University.
