Highlights of Deputy General Manager Position
The Deputy General Manager will report directly to the General Manager Procurement and will assist in the transformation of the global procurement organization. The incumbent will help to establish the build-up of top strategic suppliers. Key also will be challenging the demand side through leveraging supply market knowledge and intelligence from both external sources and in country within client‘s operation locations, including joint ventures. The business comprises sites in Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Greenland, Tunisia, Sri Lanka and Albania.

The client is a significant player in the international energy industry (oil and gas exploration and production) with interests in Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Greenland, Tunisia, Sri Lanka and Albania. Their India interests are a key focus for the company fueled by what was considered to be the largest oil discovery in India within the last 20 years. An additional 20+ discoveries have followed equating to significant holdings. Due to this growth, the client is building the world’s longest heated and insulated crude oil pipeline. The client is listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India.

Responsibilities for Deputy General Manager Position
- Engage and build strong working relationships with senior members of the procurement community worldwide.
- Represent client in terms of the functional strategy.
- Set procurement team budget & objectives.
- Develop relationships with key suppliers or potential suppliers, both directly and through team members.
- Building team capabilities by deploying standard Procurement tools, processes and training modules.
- Carry out operating procedures, ensuring compliance with standards on code of conduct.
- Identify and deliver of sustainable cost savings.
- Employ a disciplined systemic process for reducing total cost of externally purchased materials, goods, and services while maintaining/improving levels of quality, service, and technology.
- Establish quality and cost & delivery agenda for supply base.
- Undertake supplier & market sector management (supplier performance, category strategies etc.).
Qualifications and/or Requirements
The successful candidate needs to be able to demonstrate strong experience with a Disciplined Strategic Sourcing Process. Candidates should have at least 10 years commercial experience, including managing relationships with suppliers, and interacting with international colleagues. He/she should have work experience in a global purchasing organization, with solid knowledge of global sourcing and a strong track record of delivering results to the bottom line and bringing about step change improvements. Experience in Oil and Gas, including refining, or experience in the process chemicals environment and specific technical procurement background is a plus.
